Shipfox

Create a ticket from a chat conversation

Turn a request in a Slack or Discord conversation into a Linear ticket grounded in your code.

Someone asks Shipfox in chat to create a ticket from a conversation

How it works

  1. Someone asks for a ticket in chattriggerThey mention the Shipfox app in a channel or thread. A chat dispatcher can also start it.
  2. The agent reads the thread and the codeagentIt drafts the problem, scope, and acceptance criteria from what the thread says, and links the relevant code. It asks questions when an essential fact is missing.
  3. The workflow creates a Linear ticketwriteA thread gets one ticket. A repeated request gets the existing one.
  4. The workflow links the ticket in the threadwriteYou review the ticket before work starts.

What it writes

  • Linear
    • Creates one ticket per thread in the chosen team, and in the chosen project when set.
    • Replies once in the thread.

Before you start

  • With Slack, invite the Shipfox app to each channel where it creates tickets.
  • With Discord, let the Shipfox bot view each channel where it creates tickets, read its history, send messages, send messages in threads, and create public threads there.

Choices you make

When you set up this workflow, your coding agent asks you these questions. The workflow file on this page uses the default answers.

  • How should people ask for a ticket?Default: Mention the app in chat1 other choice
    • Mention the app in chatDefaultThe app creates a ticket when someone mentions it in the channels you pick.
    • Through another workflowAnother workflow, such as a chat dispatcher, starts this one. Pick it when another workflow already answers mentions, so each mention does not start two workflows.
  • Should new tickets join a Linear project?Default: Team only1 other choice
    • Team onlyDefaultCreates tickets in the chosen team without a project. Someone triages them into a project later.
    • Add them to a projectAlso adds every ticket to one Linear project. Requires the project's name or ID.

Models

  • drafttested with gpt-6-sol · high thinkingReads the chat conversation and the repository, then drafts a ticket grounded in both. Needs a strong model with high thinking.

When you set up this workflow, your coding agent suggests models that your workspace can use. You choose the model for each step.
